Certified Hotel Sustainability
WE NEVER KNOW THE WORTH OF WATER TILL THE WELL IS DRY.”
– THOMAS FULLER, HISTORIAN
We strive for a better future
We know sustainable is the only way forward. The company has an on-going commitment to minimise its environmental impact through actions carried out every day in green hotel.
Upon concept and construction - these included investing in the most advanced technologies and making decisions based on logic of sustainability.
Day to day business we try to do our best in using and buying local products, employing local people, working closely with the community, taking great care of waste separation and recycling and foremost strive to be as energy efficient as possible.
We use highly energy efficient heat pumps to both warm up the Hotel in cold months and cool it down with AC when the heat becomes too much to bear. We use low temperature and highly efficient underfloor and wall heating to deliver even, comfortable and healthy climate throughout the building.
Both of our Fireplace stoves are of highest quality and energy efficiency. The local firewood we put on fire isn’t just for guests’ viewing pleasure. We actually harness the heat via heat exchanger and deliver the energy to warm up the water and thus the Hotel itself.
Wood is one of the oldest fuels and even today wood-fire makes us feel safe and protected. Burning wood is soothing and has a positive effect on the living space thanks to its visible flame and perceptible warmth. The wood we burn is a raw material that grows naturally and has a neutral carbon footprint when used as fuel.
All our lights are LED based with ultra-low energy consumption and long-lasting lifespan. Hallways are sensor-rigged and only in use when necessary. The facade decorative lights switch on automatically using ambient lightning sensor at dusk and switch off during late-night ours automatically using timers.
The kitchen assembly is based on the latest technology with highest energy efficiency. The remaining heat dissipated is returned to the system with a recuperator with minimal energy losses. The amount of recycled steel used in production is 24% more than the competition and recycled plastic is used 20-times more.
All glazing is of top of the line with premium quality materials and with a 3-layer system thermal glass with thermal efficiency ratio Ug = 0,5 and 0,6 W/m2K respectively for the entire building.
The entire building features flooring based on highly ECO friendly ceramics, which use less raw materials to produce, lower water and energy consumption and lower CO2 emissions. Ceramics are composed of a few essential elements such as earth, fire and water, with which it is possible to obtain a strong, versatile, practical and hygienic product, which has a high value in terms of beauty and design. The finished product required -30% less energy, -80% water and -30% of CO2 emissions compared to regular ceramics.
Irrigation with rainwater is the most natural way to water plants and and grass, so we’ve built an underground barrel to capture rainwater and the underground river veins. Due to local vegetation used, water consumption is minimal anyways.
